What can I say about green smoothies to do them justice? So many people regard them as being resigned to the health freak diet-cleanse fads, destined to induce a stomach-turning grimace significant of a supposedly unbearable taste factor. This is just not the case!
What are green smoothies? Green smoothies are a mixture of fruit, leafy greens and often seaweed or grass shots. Leafy green veg are so important for our bodies, and blending large quantities of them with sweet fruit makes it so easy to include them in our meals. A tip is to chop your greens first and freeze them before adding them into the mixer with the fruit. This way, you avoid chewing rather than drinking your smoothie!
I usually use either kale or spinach, along with 2 tsps of Spirulina Powder, which is a deep green seaweed with a very strong taste. However, I actually crave this mixture of fruit, greens and seaweed! Believe me or not. Here are two of my favourite green smoothie mixtures:
1. Banana, Pear, Kale, Spirulina
2. Apples, Pears, Kiwis, Spinach, Coconut water, Spirulina
