Family hikes. My parents were very into these when I was a kid. And at that time I absolutely hated them…all I wanted was for someone to carry me the whole way! Now, that trudge up a mountain seems like the best way to spend a Sunday.
Given how awful the weather has been during the past week, we couldn’t believe our luck waking up to a dry Sunday! The route was from Glendalough to Glenmalure, about 13km.
Stopping for lunch is always of course a highlight!
Then off again.
When we reached the top of the climb we crossed the mountain on narrow wooden planks dotted with staples for grips.
Having started at 11.30am, we finished with a drink in the Glenmalure Inn at 4pm, in time to catch the beginning of the rugby match against Scotland.
